BTV 9 is showing some programme filmed in Xinjiang of mostly Tajik young women who are taking part in some kind of competition or another. Maybe I’ve been here too long, but, I’m looking past the usual bullshit and thinking, damn, I’d love to visit Xinjiang (it helps that the best students I taught in Tongzhou were all Uighurs, and my favourite restaurant in that district was run by Uighurs). But still, there’s something about that programme (and lzh has just turned over to another channel) that screams…. well, look at the title of this post, and help me come up with an appropriate word.
