hubris? history repeating?

An excellent and thought-provoking piece from Ape Rifle looking back at the Montreal of the 1960s and forward to the Montreal of the future. His description of the modernism and blind faith in progress (whatever that might be) has the word ‘hubris’ bouncing around inside my head. And somehow, as he hints, it reminds me of current events somewhere else…. Well, I think he was referring to the entire country, not just one city, but still, that’s my reaction.
