not the teacher’s duty

And just because I can, I’m going to post another of those odd slogans on signs by the blackboard in many of my classrooms.

维课堂纪律

并是师的义务

Maintaining classroom discipline is absolutely not the teacher’s duty? Uh, right….

  1. Yeah, I just wish somebody would tell my students. Oh wait, it’s on the wall right in front of them…. Think I should take all my students in to get their eyes checked.

  2. So when the students are doing something, such as sleeping, playing games by using their cellphones or read other books, in your class, do you usually keep them stoping doing such things or ignore them?

  3. I don’t let them get away with such things. The sign may say it’s not the teacher’s duty, but reality says the teacher does have to step in and maintain a certain standard of behaviour. If I ignore them, then the class will slowly but surely become unteachable.
