hmmm….

Just got back from a walk, and I thought I’d quickly blog this before I forget.

I posted a while ago about an official notice appearing on our local market wall proclaiming that a new hospital will soon be built there, and then posters appearing protesting the new hospital. Well, today, on my way home from my walk, I stopped by the market to pick up some beer and noticed that all the posters, including the official notices, had been taken off the market wall and replaced with a big red banner proclaiming in gold characters:

文明商,共创和

Would seem pretty clear, wouldn’t it? A fairly simple command to do business in a civilised manner and work together to build a harmonious society. But I have to wonder what this implies. It’s not just the posters protesting the planned new hospital that have been taken down, but even the official notices of the plans to build the new hospital have gone.

Oh well, if nothing happens and the market stays, then there’s no problem.
